Day at the Toronto Zoo

Siberian Tiger African Lion   Grizzly Bear      Today I decide to visit Toronto Zoo on such a perfect day just begging for walk and taking photos. It was beautiful sunny day and in the spite of the place crawling with masses of people, it was a joy to be out on this first warm weekend after what seemed a very long winter. Today I have spent most of the time photographing “Big Cats” such as Siberian Tigers, African Lions, Leopards and Lynx. However there were other opportunities to capture few birds, such as Trumpet Swans, Bald Eagle and others.    Bald Eagle  Trumpet Swan

Long Point Revisited

From the news I have learnt that the migration of tundra swans is at its last leg, so I decided to revisit Long Point for another photo shoot, especially in a view of weather report indicating, sunny and warm Saturday. I left early in the morning and I was treated by fabulous sunrise providing and backdrop full of expectations for lovely day.2008-03-29-at-06-06-35.jpgI was little disappointed by the small number of swans present and by rather sedate activity as oppose to their usual large and frequent flying over your head. In the spite of this I did manage to take few photos at closer distance and few new birds that were not present last time. The worming effect of sun made this trip much more pleasant than the last weekend so that I was taking photos without my gloves and not freezing my hand when holding the cameras. So this photo shoot concluded my tundra swans episode until perhaps next year. There are several photos in my new album named Long Point Biosphere Revisited if you like to see it.

Photographing Tundra Swans at Long Point Biosphere, Ontario

Long Point Biosphere is close to the Long Point Provincial Park on Lake Erie. This album was created from my weekend of March 15-16, 2008 observation and photographing the yearly migration of Tundra Swans. I hope you will enjoy some of my pictures of these magnificent birds, on their annual migration path from Chesapeake Bay to Alaska. This year it was estimated that the number of birds was roughly 40,000. For more information see the following links:
