This morning our group went with André to Hampton area and we were chasing the inversion, trying to photograph mist and rising fog over the river. A spectacular views in the spite that they were changing very quickly. Then we moved close to the bridge and lastly to a small church. André was teaching us how to pan and zoom technique to create impressionistic images.
Here are the 3 images and clicking at any will take you to my Gallery with Other Images that didn’t make the selection, but are representative of this day.

Today we went with Freeman to his place at Shampers Bluff. We were racing to catch morning mist and fog as it was floating over the hills and forest. What a magic place, with incredible number of places to photograph and enjoy the solitude if you want. No surprise that Freeman finds there an endless source for his art, in which every day, every season brings a different views. One must see it ! A n absolute paradise for spider web enthusiast !
These are 3 images from this day that I selected for our critique (Other Images are also available for viewing at my Gallery - click at any image).

Today is the first day of the workshop and I have been assigned to Group C which is doing shooting with Terry Adair. The first site is within forest of Adair’s Lodge where we are learning panning with those lovely coloured trees. Next part is at nearby creek with several waterfalls, an absolute delight of water, rocks and leaves. Althtough I did not select any images with waterfalls for my best 3, they are in my Gallery in Other Images.
Three best images presented today at the afternoon critique (click at any image to see Other Images).

In the local trail maps and hikes I came across a hike to Ross Island that you can take by driving at low tide across Thoroughfare. Well around 12:00 I arrived at the crossing and noticed that the water was still about 1 foot high. After about 5 minutes a pickup track came across blasting through the water. I talked to the driver and he didn’t recommended that I try with my car because it is only advised for 4 wheel cars. Well I took some pictures and good sense killed any temptation and daring I had. See other pictures at My Photo Gallery.
Then I decided to Red Point hike which is about 4 km near the Seal Cove and basically follows the coast line to the Anchorage Provincial Park. It was perfect choice. The forest smelled of warm autumn, the sun played an artist with light, shade and shapes all around me.

This blog combines events of two days that are opposite on the activity and weather scale. Yesterday, (Oct 9) has been the only rainy day at the island in week of my visit. So I did some painting and later afternoon, ust around 15:00, the rain stopped with clouds hanging over the island. So I decided to visit my favorite bakery (in the spite that there is only one here), and drove through Seal Cove to Southwest Head. Took some pictures of the rough seas, there and headed home.
Today (Oct 10) I have made an effort to get up early and catch the sunrise over Swallowtail Bay. It was absolutely stunning to welcome the day, with orange glow, and propped by the light from the lighthouse over the rocky hill overlooking the bay. See more images at my Photo Gallery.

Another sunny and warm morning so I decided to visit a nearby White Head Island which is about 30 min by ferry from Grand Harbour. This island is home to about 190 people living mostly off fishing. There is only one route that runs along the length of the island ( 6 km ). There were small coves with fishing boats, and isolated settlements. I found small pebbled beach that had some picnic tables and so I had my lunch there while enjoying the serenity of the place. Occasionally, I took pictures when the light changed thus creating different shapes of the objects around. I decided to return on the one before the last ferry around 15:00 because I noticed that the ferry can take 10 cars only and if there are more they have to take the next one. Since the last ferry was leaving at 16:00, I took the previous one as I didn’t want to be left stranded on the island. As I was driving through Grand Harbour I noticed a sign for the famous dulse ( Dulse (Palmaria palmata) - is a red seaweed that grows attached to rocks and as I heard is specific only to Grand Manan and is considered very healthy. So I got few samples and will try it when I get home. See more images in my Photo Gallery.

In days when earth was considered flat and you could walked of it, imagine if Grand Manan Island was as such, then today I will come to the end of my world. Such feeling is when I reached the Southewest Head. Under the sunny skies, endless water with glittering sun drenched waves, the lighthouse and beacons indicating that what it was. After taking several photos, I walked to one of the points to admire an enormous cliffs, I laid down on a bench to soak the warmth of the autumn sun. The quietness was actually very surprising with the sea, it was so sedate and invigorating at the same time.
After leaving the Southwest Head I stopped at Seal Cove where you can see old charming fish processing buildings, small harbour and lovely B & B Inn. This place was one of the largest production of smoked herrings at its heyday. What remains today is a sad testimony of declined commercial importance.
My next stop on the way home was Grand Harbour, which wasn’t that impressive as thought, took few pictures of the harbour with small number of fisheries. Nevertheless, It will be from here that I will take a ferry to The White Head Island tomorrow. As usual, you can see the collection of photographs taken from these three places in my Photo Gallery.
